Do people usually clean their mountain bikes after using them? You should know that if the bike body is not cleaned in time after it is contaminated with dirt, it will damage the bike body.
If you want to maintain a mountain bike well, you must first clean it and remove all the stains on the body,so how do you clean it? Overall There are two steps.
(1) Clean whole bike
If you want to clean the mountain bike, you should first roughly clean it as a whole, so that the subsequent cleaning can be better carried out. This is usually done with a high-pressure water gun. Pay attention not to turn the water to high pressure. Although it is easier to wash away the loose soil, the high water pressure may cause the soil to scratch the bike paint, or even rush into the interior, affecting the parts, and then affecting the performance of the mountain bike.
The water shall be adjusted into a spray shape, and then the whole bike shall be sprayed with water to loosen the soil stuck on the vehicle, so as to facilitate subsequent cleaning. Washing can be concentrated at the frame, pedal and wheel set, but be careful not to wash the bearing parts such as the central shaft or bowl set. Water intrusion is often taboo in these places, so be careful when washing.
(2)Careful cleaning
After a simple overall flushing, each area is carefully divided and cleaned one by one to ensure that there is no omission, so as to ensure the cleanness of the whole vehicle.
① Frame cleaning
After the overall washing in front, most of the soil on the frame will soften. If there is no softening, you can use a rag or sponge to wet these places, and then wipe them with a rag to remove the dirt easily.
It is easy to accumulate mud in places like the joint on the middle axle of the frame. Pay special attention when cleaning. After washing off the mud with clean water, pour a little detergent on the rag, simply rub it on the frame, and gently wipe it back and forth several times in case of dirt.
TIPS:
Do not use strong cleaning agents such as washing powder, because many mountain bike frames are made of aluminum. The alkali contained in washing powder will react with aluminum. After a long time, there will be spots on the frame, which will affect the aesthetics.
② Cleaning of wheel set
After early washing, most dirt and other stains on the outer tire can be removed. If there is a firm adhesion, you can brush it. The brush can be a little harder, so as to brush the sand, stone and dust on the tire more effectively.
When washing the car, don’t use a brush. You can use a rag or sponge to wipe. For stubborn stains, you can use detergent and other cleaning agents to help clean them. Carefully wipe the brake pads on the car rim, and simply wipe the spokes.
③ Front dialing and back dialing cleaning
The structure of fingering is quite complex. There is more butter in the parts for lubrication. It is OK to gently wipe it with a clean cloth during cleaning; For the front and back dialing, you can use a water pipe or a water gun to aim at the gap between the front and back dialing to wash away the sand and stone stuck in it, and then use a rag + detergent to wipe off the oil stains on it.
④ Front fork, pedal and brake cleaning
When cleaning the front fork, try to avoid water residue. It is best to wipe the inner tube of the front fork after the water on the rag is wrung dry. If there are impurities on the front fork after a period of use, gently wipe them off with a cotton swab.
For pedals and brakes, you can continue to use water pipes or high-pressure water guns to carefully wash away the muddy water and sediment on them. For pedals, wheel discs, front and rear transmissions and guide wheels, some small dirt can be brushed clean with a brush.
⑤Flywheel cleaning
Lubricating oil is left on parts such as toothed disc and flywheel, which is easy to adhere to dust. It can be said that it is the dirtiest and hardest to clean mountain bikes
The place is too small, so you should be careful when cleaning.
As for the toothed disc and flywheel, the rag or sponge can not go deep. You can use a long handle hard brush to deal with it. First, coat the brush with cleaning fluid, press the brush against the toothed disc and flywheel, then turn the crank, turn it for several circles, and then change the speed back and forth to make the chain leave the original position of the toothed disc and flywheel, and then put the brush on the ground to clean the original position under the chain, and finally wash away the residual cleaning fluid.
Of course, if you can disassemble a mountain bike, you can also disassemble the rear wheel of the flywheel for cleaning. When disassembling, pay attention to relax
Brake to prevent the brake from clamping the wheels.
⑥ Chain cleaning
The chain part is also a very dirty place. In addition to the dust adsorbed by the lubricating oil, there will be a lot of sediment splashed on it when cycling. When cleaning, first clean up the leaves and other dirt stuck inside, and then clean up the stubborn oil stains in this place. There are two cleaning methods.
First, kerosene can be used. The rag is stained with kerosene, wrapped around the chain, and then dragged back to evenly smear kerosene on the chain. After waiting for a while, you will find that the oil stains are dissolved and floating. At this time, wrap a clean rag around the chain, turn the crank, and wipe the chain clean.
The second is to use detergent. Spray detergent on the chain. Before the oil is almost dissolved and the detergent is not dry, wrap the chain with a cloth and wipe it. In order to avoid the detergent splashing on the tire and other places, cover the tire with a cloth in advance.
